Using Current Scholarships

Scholarships are an excellent way to fund your education abroad experience. If you currently receive a scholarship, you may be able to apply it to your study abroad program.

HOPE Scholarship

The HOPE Scholarship is applicable to all fall/spring semester and full-year approved study abroad programs as well as most approved summer programs. To receive the HOPE Scholarship, you must be enrolled for the equivalent of 6 or more UT credit hours.

Courses taken on your study abroad program are calculated into your total attempted hours and can impact your HOPE Scholarship eligibility. If you plan to study abroad during or immediately before your eligibility review, you should ensure that the minimum GPA is met prior to departure. For more information, please visit the HOPE Scholarship information page.

Other UT Scholarships

UT scholarships, such as the Volunteer and the Pledge, can be used for any approved fall/spring semester or academic year approved study abroad program. Some scholarships can also be used for summer study. One Stop Student Services can assist you in determining which of your scholarships can be used for summer study.

Departmental Scholarships

Some departmental scholarships may be used for an approved study abroad program. Check with the issuing department to find out if there are restrictions.

Private Scholarships

Some private scholarships may also be used for an approved study abroad. Check with the issuing agency to find out if there are restrictions.
