**Students will be expected to arrive 2-7 days prior to the start of the semester for program orientation. Exact dates will be provided in the student’s acceptance letter.
Application Process
- Partner institutions will nominate their student(s) using the provided application link.
- Within 14 days of receiving the nomination, student(s) will receive an email with instructions to log in to the UTK online system and complete their exchange student application.
- Students will complete the online application, and should be prepared to submit the following documents:
- Valid English proficiency documentation (if required) from one of the following:
- TOEFL score iBT 70
- IELTS score 6.5
- Letter from home institution certifying proficiency
- Academic transcript in English
- Copy of passport identity page
- Proof of sufficient financial means (bank statement, affidavit, etc.)
- Course preference requests
- Valid English proficiency documentation (if required) from one of the following:
- Within 14 days of submitting all required documents, students will receive next steps from UTK.
Please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Proof of sufficient funds – Review estimated cost of attendance.
- English proficiency – This applies to non-native English speakers only. TOEFL scores of a Language Proficiency Statement from a university/college professor stating your English level is sufficient to study at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, alongside native English speakers. Acceptable scores include: TOEFL 70 IBT or IELTS 6.5.
- Academic history
- Course request list – Please refer to the UT course timetable for classes offered during your intended study abroad term. If your desired term is not yet available, refer to that term from the previous year.
- Photocopy of passport ID page
