Gabriella Cassius (she/her)

What skills or experiences did you have during your time abroad to prepare you for life beyond UT?

“My time in Japan equipped me with the ability to navigate unfamiliar situations, communicate effectively across cultural boundaries, and adapt to varying environments. Beyond UT, these experiences will be invaluable in a world that demands flexibility and intercultural competence. Global engagement matters because it opens doors to diverse perspectives, fosters meaningful connections, and prepares individuals to thrive in our interconnected global community.”

What skills or experiences did you have during your time abroad to prepare you for life beyond UT?

“I have had so many experiences throughout my time here in Japan so far, and a number of them have prepared me for my life beyond UT. Because of the various types of people I have been able to meet, I have been made aware of numerous opportunities for the future… [S]ince I am learning another language, being able to immerse myself completely has been incredible. Studying abroad has also aided me in becoming more independent and learning all of the necessary skills needed for life on my own.”

What skills or experiences did you have during your time abroad to prepare you for life beyond UT?

“One of the most important reoccurring experiences during my time abroad was having to continue pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. An important mindset that I took away from my time in Japan was to try and never say no to new experiences, always push yourself to do things that you might normally say not to.”
